A HAVEN FOR NATURE ENTHUSIASTS

Something For Everyone
Pollard Park is one of our favourite places to visit in Blenheim and park is set on 59 acres of land and it so spaced out with so much to do, that you feel like you can get away from it all in peace. There is a playground, walking tracks, a river running through, a rose garden and exercise facilities.
The reason we love going is there is a super fun playground that the girls LOVE to go on, especially the huge acorn slide! Getting up is a bit tricky for the little ones, but they eventually reach the top and come down laughing all the way (ho ho ho). There are also swings and even one for a wheelchair which is awesome, and the playground features a musical area where kids can hit things that make all sorts of noises - I say noises because OMG MY EARS! We always regret sitting near this area. Beside the playground there are toilets, picnic tables and even a bbq under cover which makes it the ultimate place to spend the day!
Across the bridge from the playground is an area down by the river where the girls feed eels (they love tinned cat food!) and have stick/leaf races down the river. The water is so incredibly clear and I'm sure some kids probably get in there in summer to cool off! In Autumn, this area is transformed into a golden wonderland with the vibrant yellow, red and orange trees which are a treat to look at and are even more fun when they start to lose their leaves and you can crunch and play in them.
The park has walking/biking tracks all over the place which takes you this way and that and we always find that it's never truly busy and we can step off the path in different areas to find a quiet area to chill at, look in the river to see what we can find, see if we can find mushrooms and so much more! There are exercise facilities along the paths where you can climb a wall with a rope, do pull ups etc - it's perfect in summer as it's all under the big trees in the shade.
There are multiple gardens in the park including a rhododendron garden, a scented garden and a rose garden which has no double ups on the variet of plants - I'm not sure how many individual plants there are but there are heaps and they are so beautiful when they're in bloom and they smell goooood!
The gazebo at the park makes for good pictures and I'm sure there have been many wedding photos taken here! The girls like to run to it, have a look around and say hi to the ducks, then run away somewhere else. Seriously, they just run run run run run when we're at Pollard Park... it's hard to keep up!
The river is fun to walk along and see what you can spot... we've seen eels, sprays and even a freshwater crayfish!
